1.5 Years in Fast-Forward: Life Updates from The Cleymans

It’s been a minute since we last sat down here on the blog — in fact, my last post was our 4-month update back in November 2023, just after moving from Belgium to Venice, Florida.

Back then, we were settling into life in the U.S. as a family of five, still adjusting to warmer weather, sandy toes, and the everyday joys (and chaos) of a big move. We had no idea how much change the next year and a half would bring.

Today, I want to bring you up to speed — a “fast track” update to catch you up before we share the next chapter of our family story.

From Belgium to Venice to… Orlando

After spending most of 2024 in Venice, we packed up once again and moved to Orlando on December 30, 2024. We believed it would be the beginning of a fresh, exciting season — and in many ways, it was.

We spent time exploring new neighborhoods, reconnecting with friends, and building community in a new city. But God had a different plan than the one we had imagined. Orlando ended up being a short yet impactful chapter — just a few months — before He called us back home to Venice.

More on that in my next post.

Family Life & Milestones

If there’s one thing these past 18 months have proven, it’s that our family doesn’t just live life — we live it fully. Here’s a peek at what’s been happening:

  • Mason (5) had a big year — he played T-ball and soccer, made new friends, and even went through his first surgery to have his tonsils and adenoids removed. He’s thriving in homeschool, still loves anything to do with the ocean, and is slowly adding more and more dinosaur facts to his already impressive collection.
  • Nakoa (2) is officially running full speed to keep up with his big brother. He’s obsessed with dinosaurs, endlessly curious, and in the 99th percentile for his age — which basically means we’ve got our hands full!
  • Billie (16) has traveled back to Belgium twice in the last year and a half — spending both summers reconnecting with friends and family, soaking in her roots, and stepping further into the beautiful young woman she’s becoming.
  • Kim and I are approaching seven years together, and our marriage continues to be the anchor in all our adventures. We’ve balanced family life, running our business, and dreaming about the future — sometimes all in the same day!

Business Growth & Creative Projects

Our business, Kuleana Connect, continues to grow as we help service-based businesses build trust and relationships online through high-touch, human-first lead generation.

On the creative side, we’ve been working on expanding The Cleyman Family brand — reviving the blog, growing our social media platforms, and preparing for the launch of our upcoming podcast and our book series. Both are still in the works, but we can’t wait to share more soon.

Faith Through Every Season

The past year and a half hasn’t been without challenges. We’ve had to pivot plans, lean into the unknown, and trust God’s leading — even when it didn’t make sense on paper.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s this: God’s story for our lives is always better than the one we try to write ourselves. And sometimes the most unexpected turns lead to the most beautiful destinations.

What’s Next

I’ll be sharing more soon about our short but impactful season in Orlando — and what’s on the horizon now that we’re back in Venice.
